My Internet Promotion
Web Site
The Sure-Fire Way to
Promote Your Business
with a Traffic-Oriented Web Site

by Brian Benjamin Carter, MS, LAc

Brian Carter is a well known Alternative Medicine author mainly because of the success of PulseMed.org, which he created in 1999 to promote his services and expertise. Since then, more than 500,000 visitors have visited, and he has honed his web design, graphic design, and traffic building skills even further.

Right now I'm sitting at home in casual clothes, listening to whatever music I want (Eric Clapton), all because of the promotion web site solution I use .

Listen, it's my choice. I could work full time as an acupuncturist...I'm licensed and have a Masters degree in that. There are a bunch of careers I'm interested in and could go do (in fact I'm doing premed classes to also become an MD), but I don't have to do any of them. I'm free because after 5 years of trial and error and learning what works on the web, I now can promote my site on the web whenever I want.

You can relax. I'm not going to ask you for any money. I'm not here to sell you anything. (Well, I may do a teleseminars on this, but I don't need the money.)

Just think of me as your very own yoda Jedi web trick master (just a little bit taller) for a few minutes. I'm going to tell you what I've done to promote my web site, PulseMed.org.

So what is my secret promotion web site solution? I'll tell you right now.

It's very simple. With just MS Excel, a few key websites, of course a WYSIWYG webpage editor, you can increase web traffic, too. Right now, I'm making about $25k per year just from my traffic. And there are more profit sources you can use. But let's stick to traffic here.

What key web sites do you need? Well, you need to find out:

  1. Use overture's page for pay per click promotion to fin out what people are already searching for (demand),
  2. How many webpages you're competing with (supply), and
  3. How strong the competition is.

How does MS Excel fit into the web site promotion solution?

Ah... you need to create a brain. Not that you don't have one. Well I don't know, maybe you don't. Just kidding! Ok, just as in any business, you need to know how valuable each keyword (keyphrase) is... and that's all about supply and demand. Get it? No? Ok, to increase web traffic, you need to dominate valuable, profitable keywords. To dominate valuable keywords, you need to evaluate the value of keywords. To do that, you need to know supply and demand.

Collect your keywords in Excel, and divide your demand number by your supply number (make this column a percentage). An easy rule is that if you find a keyword with more demand than supply (greater than or equal to 100% value), go for it! Sort your keywords by value and demand. Then build webpages based around these keywords, and that will increase web traffic, effectively promoting your web site.

Building Your Promotion Web Site - Spiders and Flies

I know most... people don't like spiders, but in this analogy, you are one. Sorry. Get over it. :-)

Once you find out what your prospects are searching for, you can write web pages about them. Then you get the traffic, and you just have to make sure your little web is "sticky" enough - that means you have stuff in place to build and keep relationships with them. But that's another topic for another day.

Oh, and by the way, don't eat your customers. Man, you always take things too far! It's a limited analogy, like they all are.

This promotion web solution won't last forever...

It's time to spur you into action, to inspire you to start your own promotion site web based on this model. Here it is:

The good news and the bad news
about this Promotion Web Site Solution

The good news is that, as I predicted it would back in 1996, the internet has leveled the playing field for those of us with messages we want to get out. It used to be we had to get on the few regular TV channels or in the big newspapers... and advertising was very expensive because it wasn't targeted. For the last few years, it's been possible to start an empire on a shoestring budget.

But the bad new is that I think the doors of this particular web traffic promotion technique are closing.

You have to score high on the search engines to succeed here, and because of the way that Google ranks pages - partly based on the current traffic level of the site - and also because the number of available subjects to write on and the number of available keywords is decreasing, this opportunity won't last.

I'm serious about this- now that I see it clearly, I'm thinking I may devote the next year of my life solely to using my promotion site web technique. See Alexa.com for website rankings. Look at my site's compared to related sites. I've jumped from 240,000 to 204,000 now that I'm done writing my book and spending loads of time with my promotion web site solution.

But, the kind of keywords/keyphrases that have yielded me an audience and profits are no longer as promising as they used to be. If the 10th website on the first page of the Google results has a higher Alexa ranking than you, it's over, and you can forget all about this work at home business opportunity.

Now I may be wrong- Google and other search engines may build something into their equations to allow the new guy always to be able to reach people, or rather for the searcher to reach the best info source, even if the best source is new... but I doubt it, because they want to provide reliable info, and one of the only measures they have of reliability (that they can plug into a program) is the ranking and traffic level of the website it's on.

Obviously I haven't told you enough to do it all right now... and I'm not going to tell you I have a foolproof formula - it took me several years to learn to do a promotion web site the hard way... I should start a new site from scratch to see how long it takes to make it happen without my current traffic level. But if there's enough interest, I'll do a teleseminar on it.
