Jacksonville, Florida has something to offer everyone. There are miles of uncrowded beaches; ecological and nature based excursions; world-class golf courses; top-of-the-line tennis facilities and other recreation; historical sites and architecture; sporting, gaming and cultural activities; unique shopping and dining; nightlife and entertainment; festivals and events; a riverfront festival marketplace and river cruises. And that is just the beginning. For these reasons alone, you should consider purchasing some Jacksonville Florida real estate.
Today, Jacksonville is an exciting vibrant city that maximizes its natural attributes and reaches out to welcome visitors. Last year Jacksonville hosted more than 5.14 million visitors. Luckily, they have room for a few more.
The Jacksonville Florida real estate market offers a wide range of housing options. You can choose from a variety of beach front homes and condominiums. There are also family neighborhoods and luxury country homes that are only a short drive from downtown. The wider Jacksonville area includes the smaller communities of Fanning Springs, Orange Park, Palm Coast, Saint Augustine, and West to Gainesville. Surrounding counties include Duval, Clay and St. John's County Florida.
Florida definitely has its perks, which is why you need to consider getting some Jacksonville Florida real estate. There’s no state income tax. A $25,000 homestead exemption. Affordable housing. New construction continues to rise in and around Jacksonville. A $2.2 billion “Better Jacksonville Plan“, was approved by Jacksonville voters in 2000, which provided revenues from a half-cent sales tax increase to build new public facilities, widen overcrowded roads, extend sewer lines, construct interchanges and resurface 2,175 miles of roads by 2005.
Like all cities, Jacksonville Florida real estate has its own key locations— even though the boundaries can be wide and aren’t set in stone. The downtown spans the Northbank and Southbank at a narrow spot on the St. Johns River. You might be going downtown in these parts, but never uptown. Just north of there is historic Springfield. The northside goes from the Trout River to the Nassau County line and from New Kings Road on the west to the Intracoastal Waterway. Westside runs from Riverside Avenue west to Baker County and from Interstate 10 to Clay County. Arlington is bordered by the river on the west and north and the Intracoastal on the east.
Southside is a huge area that runs on both sides of the river from Arlington south to Baymeadows Road and the St. Johns County line, including such diverse areas as San Jose, San Marco and the St. Johns Bluff Road area. These are other great Jacksonville Florida real estate locations.
