San Jose Airport Transportation: Choosing your Best Options
by Amy Finley |
Visiting San Jose
San Jose, California, with three hundred sunny days a year and an average temperature of seventy degrees, makes a perfect vacation spot just about anytime of year, for anyone. Take into account the fact that San Jose is one of the safest large cities in America, San Jose’s innumerable activities and rich history, and how could you not want to make the trip?
No matter how mild the weather or carefully planned your trip to San Jose is, you’re still going to have to deal with the messy details of San Jose airport transportation. As the 11th largest city in America with over 924,000 people, getting around and to and from the airport (not to mention transportation during your stay) are details best thought about at least briefly before your trip.
One thing you can get off your mind, though, is your San Jose airport transportation while you are actually at the airport – they offer courtesy shuffles every ten minutes between certain points between 5a.m. andmidnight (don’t worry if you’ve got a red-eye flight, they still have shuttle service, it just runs on a lesser schedule and may not be every ten minutes).
Cost options of San Jose airport transportation
There are a lot of details that have to be factored into the decisions you make regarding San Jose airport transportation, and cost is a major one (if you’re lucky enough not to have to worry about cost, you should be in your private limo by now). The cheapest options are usually going to be your light rail services and buses to get to and from the airport and hotel (or wherever your destination is). If you are staying at a relatively close hotel, check with your hotel first -- many of them may offer free shuttle service to and from the airport.
More expensive are door-to-door shuttle services and taxis (although it’ll be less if you share a car and make other stops). Rental cars are a toss up – it’s probably not worth it for just a short time, however, if you plan to use it for more than just San Jose airport transportation, and use it during your stay, it might be one of the most cost effective options. Limousines are one of the most expensive choices.
Besides the cost…
Sometimes the benefits or interests of your San Jose airport transportation needs will be more important than the factor of cost.
If you are traveling with young children, for example, it might be worth it to you to pay for a rental car rather than having to keep track of the kids on a light rail, for example, where there are many other people. (Another bonus is that there are tons of coupons for rental car agencies available both in print and on the web).
If it is a special occasion, let’s say a honeymoon or anniversary trip, savoring the trip and focusing on making memories with your spouse may be more important than cost. In this case, you might decide to splurge and go with a limo. (If one spouse suggests it and you can afford to splurge a little, don’t protest – those romantic moments of sipping champagne with your spouse will probably be too rare to fuss about the cost).
Whatever your decisions are regarding San Jose airport transportation, having thought about it ahead of time will help you avoid being frustrated by having to make a spur-of-the-moment decision, making your trip to beautiful San Jose that much more enjoyable.
