Weight Loss Food

These 'negative' calorie foods take more calories to digest than there are actual calories in the food item - that’s why I call them a weight loss food.

Weight Loss Food

by Patrick Austin

We’ve all, at one time, wished that food had no calories and you could eat as much as you want and still lose weight. Some would consider this science fiction. But is it science fiction or science fact that weight loss food actually exists? The answer to that question is a definite yes.

The term "negative calorie" food is somewhat false, because all food contains calories. But, how the body processes these foods is where we get the negative calorie name. A “negative” calorie food is basically a weight loss food. They are foods that take up more caloric energy to digest then the calories that are contained in them.

Your body has to expend energy in order to digest and absorb foods, in fact, ten percent of your daily caloric intake is used to process foods in your body. So these “negative” calorie foods are foods that take more calories to digest then actual calories in the item of food (that’s why I call them a weight loss food). Though you should keep in mind, negative calorie foods are discussed in their natural state, if you cook, add butter, and other things to them it changes the caloric makeup of the food.

So, now that you know what these "negative" calorie foods do, how can you use them to lose weight? Well, keeping a diet, any diet, involves a reduction of calories, but a reduction of calories often leaves you with hunger cravings because your body has become used to a certain feeling of fullness. Here is where the “negative” calorie food (i.e. weight loss food) can be used.. What is the most common reason you break your diet? There are many reasons, but the most common is that your body is used to being full and when you eat less, you get hunger pangs. When you get that feeling of hunger, you cheat and go off your diet.

So, how do you still feel full and still keep a low calorie diet? Simple, add these “negative” calorie foods to help you through the cravings and hunger pangs. That’s why you should consider them weight loss food. They keep you full throughout the day and help you burn more calories due to their digestive requirements.
